The National Slate Association was re-vitalized in April 2002. So, what have we been doing since then? Here are some of the things we have accomplished:
- Incorporated and registered with the IRS as a 501(c)6 non-profit trade organization
- Written and adopted Bylaws
- Designed a fresh logo and letterhead for the NSA (available for members from our shop)
- Held numerous Board meetings
- Raised over $50,000
- Established nine standing committees, including Membership, Publications, Programs, Standards, and Contractor Certification
- Accepted many new members, including 28 Charter members (thanks to all of you)
- Arranged for our Annual Meeting and developed an agenda
- Opened a bank account, obtained a domain name, wrote a mission statement, distributed press releases, solicited grants, created a membership brochure, elected officers, solicited memberships, etc., etc.
- Printed NSA logo stickers
- Developed a draft contractor recognition program
- Created a new and improved web site
As you can see, many of our achievements are related to the numerous tasks involved with starting a new organization. This done, we fully intend on moving ahead with achieving our goal of promoting excellence in slate roofing and, thereby, growth in the industry.
