Golden Gate Park – Murphy’s Windmill

Located in the Southwest end of California's Golden Gate Park was built between 1905 and 1907.

Brantford Courthouse

Part of the challenge was the courthouse had to remain in operation through out the project. Slate was sourced to match the existing slate color and pattern. This slate roof was restored in 2004.

Lady Meredith House – McGill University

Built in 1897, the turreted brick mansion was restored after a fire in 1990. These photos show the repair from 2004.

St. Nicholas Church, New Hamburg, NY

The project included replacement of slate roofing to match the original. Hip & ridge rolls were replicated, and finials were restored with fluid-applied coating. Siding was removed to allow for replacement of flashings at walls. Inappropriate gutters & leaders were replaced to retain the historic character.

First Presbyterian Church

300+ square Slate Roof Restoration including 20″ x random width, 3/8″ x 1″ thick, Vermont slates, “pick up & relay” process, including 40+ sq. of acquired, matching “salvaged” slates; 520′ custom inlaid gutter restoration, matching all original conditions & details. Main sanctuary building received 1-1/2″ nail base insulation, 190 sq., prior to re-installation of slates. Installation of 2000+ copper snow & ice guards. 800′ custom copper ridge. Custom scaffolding & staging of entire church perimeter.

Oakhurst Roof Restoration

A grand roof design including round turrets, sweeping radius porches and striking detail work on the dormers. Also, a large amount of vertical slate was installed on several of the gable walls with an unusual slate detail used to accent the line of the rake.

Cairnwood

Our work on the Cairnwood Mansion, the Beaux Arts style residence designed by Carrere & Hastings in 1892 for the industrialist and founder of Pittsburg Plate Glass, John Pitcairn, was nominated for a Gold Circle Award for “Outstanding Workmanship – Steep Slope” by the National Roofing Contractors Association. The slate roofing is highlighted by the use of custom formed copper capping at the hips and ridges,creating a striking and unusual detail.
